Gujarati litterateur Sitanshu Yashaschandra to be conferred Saraswati Samman

A scholarly Gujarati poet, play right and critic, Padma Shri Sitanshu Yashaschandra has been selected for this highly reputed annual award for his outstanding literary contribution in Gujarati. He quotes few very expressive lines from his rewarded collection of poetry 'Vakhar'.


Saraswati Samman, is an annual award presented by KK Birla Foundation since 1991 to an outstanding literary work in only one of the Indian languages.

Some of the past recipients of this highly reputed award are the Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachhan (1991)  and Marathi play right Vijay Tendulkar (1993).

The scholarly poet, play right and critic Sitanshu Yashaschandra (2018)  is the second Gujarati writer to receive this prestigious award after 'Darshak' Manubhai Pancholi  (1997).
