A snap lockdown has been announced in Perth, World leaders make pledges on emission reductions at a virtual summit, Fewer than 10 percent of Australians have received a coronavirus vaccine.


A snap lockdown has been announced in Western Australia.

Perth and Peel region residents will enter a three-day lockdown starting midnight tonight until midnight on Monday 23 April to 26 April 2021.

WA Premier Mark McGowan says, the Victorian man who tested positive was in Perth for five days after leaving his hotel, before returning to Melbourne and has already transmitted COVID-19 to one of his close contacts in Perth.

Restrictions affecting residents in Perth and Peel include only leaving home for work, shopping for essentials, medical needs, compassionate requirements, or exercise which is limited to one hour per day.

WA police commissioner Chris Dawson has asked people not to panic-buy at supermarkets before the lockdown begins.
