Tough new laws have been introduced against black marketing of event tickets. New laws that came into effect from 1st June 2018 affects buyer, seller and those who advertise a ticket for resale. It applies to all events held in NSW even if the buyer or seller is from another state.

If you are unable to attend a sporting event or a concert and need to sell your ticket, here is what you need to know.

You cannot charge more than 10% of the original price.

If you buy a ticket that was sold to you for more than 10% of the original price, the venue can cancel your ticket and refuse entry to the event.

If you are advertising to sell a ticket or looking at an advertisement to buy one, it should include:

  • Original ticket price
  • Asking price (Original price + 10%)
  • Details of the location -venue address, row and seat number
These rules apply to all events held in NSW from 1st June 2018, even if the ticket buyer or seller is from another state.
