ઈ.સ. 1970માં શ્રી હર્ષદ દેસાઈ ભારત છોડી ઑસ્ટ્રૅલિયા સ્થાયી થવા આવી ગયા. એમની દસ વર્ષની ઉંમરે ભારત સ્વતંત્ર થયું ત્યારની એમની યાદો તેઓ SBS Gujarati સાથે વહેંચે છે. એ ઉપરાંત વાગોળે છે 1972માં ઑસ્ટ્રૅલિયામાં એમણે ઉજવેલ ભારતનું સ્વાતંત્ર્ય પર્વ.
