અનુચિત પરીક્ષણ બાળકોમાં ખોટા નિદાન માટે જવાબદાર

SBSના ધ ફીડ કાર્યક્રમ દ્વારા એક ખાસ તપાસમાં જાણવા મળ્યું છે કે શિક્ષણ વિભાગ દ્વારા સંચાલિત અયોગ્ય IQ પરીક્ષણોના આધારે ઘણા બાળકોને બૌદ્ધિક અપંગતા સાથે ખોટી રીતે નિદાન કરવામાં આવ્યા છે.

The Wechsler IQ test is the standard test used by education departments across Australia.

A score of 70 or above would likely translate to admission to a mainstream school, but anything below that flags placement in a special school.     

At least one in four children with a disability is being turned away from the schools.  As voice-dependent testing means some children with little or no speech are being misdiagnosed.

Once misdiagnosed with intellectual disabilities, labeling children inaccurately can be devastating.
