5 easiest ways to become healthy

The saying goes, ‘Prevention is better than cure’.

We have another one. ‘Health is Wealth’.

No one can dispute the fact that that the most important factor in the pursuit of happiness is to be HEALTHY.

So today, when we are celebrating WORLD HEALTH DAY, here are the top 5 tips to become healthy.
1. Be Active and Exercise

Something as simple as a brisk walk for half an hour a day dramatically reduces the risk of chronic illnesses like heart disease, diabetes, and several forms of other lifestyle disorders like obesity.

Exercise also stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed.

2. Maintain a Healthy Weight

We know it’s not easy. But it’s not impossible.

World Health Organisation has claimed that today 20% of the world’s population is at the risk of Obesity.

But keeping your weight in check has dramatic impact on your health. People who are obese, compared to those with a normal or healthy weight, are at increased risk for many serious diseases and health conditions like stroke, diabetes, mental illnesses.

One easy way to shed calories from your diet: drink water instead of sugary beverages.

3. Take time out to relax

Relaxation is extremely important to a healthy mind.

However you choose to relax - deep breathing, yoga, fishing, having a warm/hot bath, reading a book - try to chill out for an hour a day if you can.

Mental exhaustion can cause stress, depression and anxiety disorders.

Modern lifestyles can be hectic - if you're not working, you're running after the kids or racing around the grocery store or doing something else.

Relax! Breathe deeply. Even fifteen minutes of this is better than none, but do try for an hour a day.

4. Quit Smoking

Everyone knows smoking is not good for your health. The challenge is to quit it.

Several new nicotine replacement therapies available today have made it easier than ever to attempt to quit this dangerous habit. Talk to your doctor about the best strategies for success.

Having good, healthy relationships with your family and friends can not only boost your mood on a bad day, it plays an important role in your overall well-being too.
