Despite heavy opposition and severe criticism the company has faced in Australia, Indian billionaire Gautam Adani’s Carmichael coal mine coming up in Queensland this year has managed to attract enough audience for its project.
Five road shows planned in five town centres across regional Australia have been completely sold out.
The Bowen Basin Mining Club (BBMC) has organised an industry road show in partnership with Adani Australia to bring key information about supply opportunities to regional Queensland centres.
Named The Adani Supplier Road show, they are holding meetings in regional centres like Rockhampton, Emerald, Clermont, Mackay and Townsville from Monday 23rd January to Wednesday 25th January.
They will be outlining subcontracting and supply chain opportunities across the upcoming mine, rail and port projects at these road shows.

A special Indigenous Supplier Session has also been planned and will be held prior to each event at these road shows.
Not just that, the attendees who have booked their tickets for $30 to attend this road show will also get to network at all briefings, encouraging businesses to form partnerships to take advantage of supply opportunities.
Bowen Basin Mining Club Director Jodie Currie said it’s important for the road show to visit all five regional centres, to maximise the opportunity for regional Queensland businesses to participate in the $21.7 billion project.
“Adani are taking a local-first approach to the supply of this project, and local businesses should take advantage of these openings wherever possible,” said Ms Currie was quoted saying on BBMC website.
Adani Australia Chief Executive Jeyakumar Janakaraj says that although their Tier 1 Partners will remain the main contacts for the majority of the project supply chain, key Adani personnel will present an overview of the timing of sub-contracting opportunities available at the supplier briefing events.
“By taking information directly to regional centres, we are demonstrating our commitment to local supply for this project, spreading economic benefit throughout Queensland,” said Mr Janakaraj.
Adani’s coal mine project has come under lot of criticism and opposition from environmental groups. Conservationists accused Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk of "selling her soul to big coal" during a protest in December last year to mark the arrival of Adani global head Gautam Adani in Townsville.

And the protesters have insisted the fight is not over.
"I think as long as there are a lot of people that believe in protecting the land and keeping in its natural state the fight will continue," said Aunty Carol Prior, of the Juru tribe.
