One person died and seven others were injured when an amusement park ride in Chennai came crashing down.

20 workers at Chennai’s Kishkinta amusement park were trying out a ride called the Disco Dancer on Wednesday evening, when the coaches of the giant wheel - like a mega tea cup that tilts from one side to the other - came crashing down from a height of nearly 15 feet.

The police arrested the owner and the manager of the amusement park on charges of criminal negligence that resulted in death.

NDTV reported that the Disco Dancer was among the top rides at the park till last year's floods left it damaged. This ride was a trial run before the ride was made open to the public.
