Two men came to blows on the Sydney Harbour Bridge on Tuesday evening. According to NSW Police, the confrontation may have been a result of a road-rage incident on the Warringah Freeway, a few hours before this incident.
It was about 5.30pm (Tuesday 5 April 2016), that police from Sydney City Local Area Command responded to reports to Triple Zero (000) of two men fighting in the southbound lanes of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The fight on the city landmark during peak hour sparked a number of triple zero calls.
They arrived to find a 19-year-old man had sustained a minor cut to his head.
The man was treated at the scene and taken to St Vincent’s Hospital.
A second man, aged 49, was arrested and taken to Newtown Police Station where he was questioned by the police.
A NSW Police spokesman said the 49-year-old was released from police custody on Tuesday night while the police investigation into the incident continued.
The Police will be reviewing the CCTV footage of the bridge. Meanwhile, the Police have urged anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
