Four police officers have been shot by a gunman at a rural property in New Zealand.
The incident occurred this noon at the Bay of Plenty, on New Zealand's North Island.
Initially three officers had been shot during the major operation, but the police, few minutes ago, confirmed that a fourth police officer had been shot too.

"Police can confirm a fourth officer was shot in this unfolding incident and is currently receiving medical treatment," NZ Police said on Twitter.
A "large police operation is underway," they have tweeted.
The injured officers have been transported to hospital to receive medical treatment.
Members of the public have been advised to avoid the area as there are a number of cordons in place.
NZ Police are expected to deliver a media conference soon.
