Emergency services are at Sydney Airport treating passengers injured after their aircraft hit heavy turbulence on Tuesday noon, just after 2.30pm.

Paramedics were called to Sydney international airport after a plane struck turbulence that left several passengers injured.

ABC reported that three people — two of them elderly — were among those who required medical attention.

It is believed there were 30 people on board the plane, which landed safely.

Sydney Airport confirmed this in a tweet.
