Car crash accused Subha Anand does not appear in court due to pregnancy

Alcohol and speed are alleged to be factors in the car crash that led to death of a 19-year-old nursing student in Melbourne.

29-year-old Melbourne resident, Subha Anand charged with culpable and dangerous driving causing the death of a 19-year-old woman is in the "final throes of pregnancy", a court has heard.

Ms Anand last year was charged with culpable and dangerous driving causing the death of 19-year-old Natasha Pigot in Williams Landing. She has also been charged with having a blood alcohol reading of 0.159 per cent and driving at 115km/hr in a 70km/hr zone.

Anand did not appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Thursday due to her pregnancy, with the case adjourned until June 19.
