International passengers in Australia have been advised to allow sufficient time to process their immigration at the airport as the computerised passport checking system is down.
The Department of Immigration and Border Protection confirmed that the Australian airports have been affected due to an external system outage with the Society International Telecommunications Aeronautiques (SITA) system.
This development has resulted into long queues at Sydney International airport as passport are being manually processed by staff, resulting into delays.
While DIBP said, 'Additional ABF officers will be deployed as required to minimise the impact to passengers', they have also advised passengers to to contact their airline for further information.
