Australia kicks off its four-test series with India in Pune today.
Australia has won the toss and elected to bat.
The Indian Cricket Team has been unbeaten in the last 19 games while Australia, ranked second in the world, have lost their last nine Tests in Asia.
Hindustan Times reported that this series will be significant in more than one ways for both the teams.
The report states that India by winning just one test can ensure their world No. 1 status till April 1. And if this happens, the team will get $1 million (Rs 6.70 crore) as the prize money from International Cricket Council (ICC).
Meanwhile, if Australia defeats India 4-0 in the Test series then they will snatch the No. 1 spot from the hosts. In an alternate scenario, if Australia wins the series with a 3-0 margin, then both the teams will be joint No. 1 on April 1.
The clash between the two giants have always been interesting with a good number of controversies thrown in, each time the sides play against each other.
