One of Silicon Valley’s foremost venture capitalists and a member of Facebook’s board of directors, Marc Andreessen’s tweet on India has created a huge furore in India and at Facebook Headquarters.

Disappointed with the reception that Facebook received about its Free Basics in India, Marc tweeted his frustration, which did not go down with Indians at all.

His tweet implied that India would be basking in a brighter economic reality if it had remained under British rule.

This tweet did not go down well with Founder and CEO of the company, Mark Zuckerberg. Through a Facebook Post, Mark expressed that he found the comments deeply upsetting.

Marc Andreessen has deleted his tweet since then. And he even issued an apology.
