When a student from the Punjab province of Pakistan told Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that it was really great to see so many Punjabis in his cabinet, Trudeau cheekily responded by saying, "I have more Sikhs in my Cabinet than Modi does."

The only two Sikhs in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet are Harsimrat Badal and Maneka Gandhi.

However, in Trudeau’s Cabinet there are three Sikh ministers - Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan, minister of infrastructure and communities Amarjeet Sohi and Navdeep Bains, minister of innovation, science and economic development.

As a matter of fact, this number is still more than Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s UPA cabinet!

Trudeau has emerged as a champion for the rights of minorities, especially Sikh community in Canada.

He has been spotted busting cool moves on bhangra, attending Gurdwaras, participating in Diwali celebrations, and preparing meals in a langar.
