Ringing Bells is the company behind the launch of world's cheapest smartphone – Freedom 251.
Priced at just a bit above $5, this phone is not just affordable but comes with all the popular features that a smartphone should have.
The Freedom 251 has a 4- inch display, 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, and a 1,450 mAh battery.
It also comes with a 3.2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera.
The phone comes with 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by another 32GB using a microSD card.
And that’s not all. The Freedom 251 will run on Android Lollipop 5.1 and comes pre-installed with several apps like Facebook, YouTube, Google Play and WhatsApp.
The manufacturing company - Ringing Bells has said that the phone comes with a one-year warranty and they have over 650 service centres across the country.
President of Ringing Bells, Ashok Chadha told Indian business paper – Economic Times, "We're looking to corner a 40% market share in 12 months from now."
Even as India works on internet connectivity, it is the second-largest smartphone market in the world after China and is currently the fastest growing smartphone markets in the world. The bookings for phone opened on Thursday morning.
