Natasha Uttamsingh, a 22-year old Indian-origin student has been jailed for 15 months in the United Kingdom after lying about being raped by her ex-boyfriend.
Natasha also altered her medical records to maintain her story.
She reported that she was "strangled… to the point of unconsciousness and… assaulted on a daily basis” by her former boyfriend Aakash Andrews, the UK’s Mirror reports.
But later the police discovered a text message on her phone that she'd sent to herself from Aakash's phone admitting to the rape that the validity of her story was questioned.
Prosecutor Tony Prosser said she even changed a contact in her phone to make it seem as if Aakash repeatedly tried to call her.
Aaaksh broke up with her so she went to police to make the allegations.
Mr Prosser added - "When he suggested finishing it she told him she was pregnant. He said he wanted to go away for a few days. She stood in front of him and said she would report him for domestic assault if he were to try to leave her."
Judge Christopher Critchlow sentenced Natasha to 15 months in prison at Guildford Crown Court.
"You have tried to influence a court by dishonestly altering medical records and tried to bring problems into Aakash Andrews’ life and you have succeeded in doing that," Judge Christopher Critchlow said.
Natasha's mother cried at the back of the courtroom as she was taken away from the dock.
