Newton is going to Oscars for India. Amit Masurkar-directed Newton is Indian’s official entry in Foreign Language Film category at the 2018 Oscars.

Actor Rajkumar Rao who plays the lead role confirmed the news on twitter. He wrote, “Very happy to share this news that #NEWTON is India’s official entry to the #OSCARS this year. Congratulations team.”
The movie, featuring actor Pankaj Tripathi, Raghubir Yadav and Anjali Patil in key roles, was premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in February. It is a satire and dark comedy. It shows an honest government clerk’s struggle to conduct a free-and-fair election at a polling booth in Chhattisgarh.
Several prominent personalities from the film industry lauded the selection of Newton as India’s entry.
