Emirates aircraft, EK521, flying from India to Dubai crashed on tarmac when it had to make an emergency landing at the Dubai airport on Wednesday.
According to an official statement by the airline, there were over 226 Indians, 24 Britons, 11 Emirati and two Australians on the plane at the time of the crash.
The airline tweeted saying that all the passengers and crew members were accounted for and safe.
However, passengers grabbing their belongings instead of evacuating the plane have come under severe criticism.
Videos of crash landing on social media shows passengers opening overhead compartments to retrieve their hand luggage, laptop bags despite the Emirates crew shouting, ‘Leave your bags, leave your bags. Jump and slide, Jump and slide.’

The footage shared on various social media platforms attracted severe criticism even as aviation experts questioned and debated the aircraft evacuation procedures in practise.
