NSW Police who has been investigating Indian IT worker Prabha Kumar’s murder for almost 22 months now have travelled to India to speak to Kumar’s husband, Fairfax reported.

Prabha Kumar was returning home on Saturday night, March 7th 2015 when she was stabbed in Parramatta Park.

Ms Kumar lived alone in Sydney while her husband, Arun Kumar lived in Bengaluru, India with their daughter.

Police ruled out robbery or sexual assault as motive and in March 2016 had revealed that detectives were investigating if someone from her native India had played a role in organising her murder.

Detective Sergeant Ritchie Sim had said the investigation would continue for “as long as it takes” and also that Ms Kumar’s murder was ‘not random’.

Her husband however was sceptical of this theory.

Speaking to Fairfax media, he had said, "Me and my family are very sceptical about how anyone could even think of this.

" ... she had no enemies with friends or family in India, which is why it is very hard to imagine.”

Now, almost 2 years later, Detectives have travelled to India to speak to Ms Kumar’s husband Arun and her relatives.

Australian Police is working closely with Karnataka Police and the local media in India reported that Australian detectives are likely to visit Prabha’s native village, Amtur in Bantwal to speak to Prabha's family, including her brothers.

Australian Police has reportedly prepared a list of 15 people who were in regular touch with Prabha. "They have drawn up a list of 15 mobile numbers of people who were in constant touch with her," The Times of India reported.
