Taxi driver killed in a car crash in Melbourne

A car coming the other way allegedly crashed into the taxi killing the 32-year-old taxi driver at the scene.

A man has been killed and a woman injured after an early morning car crash on Sydney Road in Fawkner in Melbourne's north.

The taxi propelled into a construction site, killing the driver on the spot.

ABC reports that Police were told the taxi had stopped to turn right at the intersection of Sydney Road and Lorne St just before 5:00am.

A car coming the other way then allegedly crashed into the taxi.

Thus pushing the taxi into a traffic light before ending up in a nearby under construction house.

Police said that a 33-year old woman from Oakleigh was driving the second car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The 32-year-old taxi driver died at the scene.
