It’s 27 July and it has been exactly three months since Melbourne resident Tej Chitnis disappeared.

21-year-old Tej Chitnis disappeared on April 27th after he drove his silver VW Golf from his Burwood East home in Melbourne.

He had left home to go to his university that day but failed to return home in the evening where a special birthday dinner for his dad was planned.

Over last three months, Tej’s family and friends have scoured Melbourne and Victoria looking for him.

So far Police has been able to locate his last mobile phone signal data and footage of his car near Healesville in the Yarra Valley.

"Tej’s mobile phone’s signal data was located last in the Healesville area at just after 11:30am on 27th April morning," Tej's brother Rudra had told SBS Hindi.

His family and friends since then have carried out numerous search operations in the Yarra Valley region.

In last three months, every weekend has been spent looking for Tej, the family shares.

Its been three months since his disappearance, but Tej’s family hasn’t given up hope.

In a Facebook post, the family wrote, “Tej, today is the 27th of July, that means you have now been away for an agonising 3 months.”

“Agonising and heartbreaking not just for the family but so many friends and others supporting us, many we haven’t even met. Please, please, just make contact to tell us you are OK, that’s all we ask.”
Tej’s mother, Reva Chitnis, earlier this month told Fairfax that her son's disappearance could be explained by the news that he hadn't attended university "for some time".

The family initially was shocked to learn this but was relieved too.

"Yes, we are Indian parents but we've never put pressure on the boys to say this or do that – that is what is so disappointing," Mrs Chitnis said.

Today the family hopes and pray that Tej will return home soon.

Tej’s disappearance is now an Australian Federal Police case and Tej’s family will be attending the launch of the missing persons week soon.

Anyone who has seen Tej or has any information is urged to contact the Forest Hill Police Station on 8847 3600 or call 000.

Family has also created a Facebook Page to locate Tej - https://www.facebook.com/findtejchitnis/
