Today's protest was to remember the 1959 Tibetan uprising against the presence of the People's Republic of China in Tibet.

The failure of the Tibetan armed rebellion ultimately resulted in a violent crackdown on Tibetan independence movements, and the flight of the Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso into exile.

Tsering Dorje, the President of Tibetan Community in Melbourne, said they want freedom in Tebet and hope that one day His Holiness Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso to return to Tibet.
Mikyoe Dorje, who was raised in India and migrated to Australia in 1998, said they want to draw attention to human rights issue in Tibet.
