47-year-old Vineet Whig, a top executive of Encyclopaedia Britannica allegedly jumped to his death on Sunday in Gurugram.
Whig, who worked as a Chief Operating Officer (COO) with Encyclopaedia Britannica’s South Asia division, was found dead inside a shaft of his multi-storey apartment by the cleaning staff, NDTV reported.
A suicide note found in Whig’s pocket read: “I am taking my own life, no one is responsible. I am unable to cope. I am sorry. I am depressed. I see no way out except for suicide. Yes, I am a coward. I should have faced life.”
Whig lived in DLF Belvedere Park with his family that included his wife, three kids and his father.
Whig’s body was found in the ventilation shaft by cleaning staff when they went to clean it at 9 AM on Sunday.
Police was called in and family was informed after the cleaning staff informed the society’s security control room.
According to the family, Whig went for his morning walk but did not return home on his usual time.
Police is now examining the CCTV footage to verify the details and ascertain the sequence of events.
