26-year-old Hassan Abdul Rahim has been jailed for spitting a large amount of phlegm on 19-year-old woman who worked at McDonald’s Essendon outlet in Melbourne.
On 13th January, Hassan drove into the drive-thru outlet of the fast food chain and ordered fries and a drink.
Irked after waiting for over ten minutes, when Hassan was told to move his car from one drive-thru window to another, Hassan spat in the face of the woman who was serving customers, The DailyMail wrote.
The act was caught on CCTV.
Magistrate Meagan Keogh told Abdul-Rahim: "Spitting is a particularly awful crime; it's pretty gutless in all respects."
Abdul-Rahim was using the drug ice at the time, the court was told in April. He pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and unlicensed driving.
In sentencing, Ms Keogh said being spat on was a shocking thing for anyone to endure, let alone a teenager at work.
"It's an appalling display against someone who is just doing their job," she said as per a report by Fairfax.
"There is no aggravation to Mr Abdul-Rahim at all, other than he is slightly delayed in his drive-through experience. This is just a completely unacceptable response."
The court jailed him for a month in April but his lawyer lodged an appeal the same day.
On Tuesday, when the matter came up in court, Hassan withdrew his appeal.
He was taken into custody immediately and will serve a month in jail.
