A riveting true-life story of an Indian kid who got lost and separated from his family in India and made his way to Australia with his adopted parents is about to be released worldwide in coming months. It is being released in US in November and will come to Australia on January 19th next year.

The film, titled Lion, starring Hollywood stars Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman, traces the story of 5-year-old Saroo who gets lost on a train in India.

Separated from his mother and brother, Saroo travels thousands of kilometres across India before he is adopted by an Australian couple, who bring him to Australia.

Twenty five years later, Saroo who now lives in Hobart, Tasmania and has grown up the ‘Australian way’ feels an irresistible urge to find his family in India.

With the help of google earth, Saroo finds out that he was originally from Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh and sets out to look for his mother.

The film is based on Saroo Brierley’s book, A Long Way Home.
