Port Augusta Gurudwara Sahibji, a sikh temple was vandalised over the weekend in Port Augusta, South Australia.
The sikh temple was vandalised and its windows and glass doors smashed.
Established three years ago by the Sikh community of Port Augusta, the community gathers every weekend for a langar (community meal) and prayers.
On Sunday, when around 60 members of the community reached the temple, they noticed the glass doors and windows had been smashed.
The security cameras installed at the temple were stolen too.
Sunny Singh told Southern Cross News, “Yesterday when we came here we felt really bad and disappointing. It took us a really long time to build this temple and now this has happened.”

However, he doesn’t think the attack was racially motivated.
He said the temple was a community hall too and was not just for Sikhs or the Indian community. He said the community was willing to help the offenders if they need help.
“If they need any help they can come and talk to us and we will help them in anyway,” he said.
Port Augusta sergeant Stephen Fitzgerald says police are hopeful to find the culprits through CCTV footage.
“We haven’t identified any suspects at this stage, however we’ve got some CCTV footage,” he said.
“What we’re trying to do at the moment is wait for that footage, but also appeal to the public, if anyone was around that building at the time, if they were able to give us information, if they saw anything.”
