An Indian-origin family was attacked and their service station in Melbourne’s North was vandalized on Monday following a dispute with some tenants who had been leased their property.

A member of the family was behind the counter when 4 men, their tenants from the adjoining shop walked in and pushed the products and goods off the counter.

It was terrifying for the staff members present there who said that they were threatened that they will be shot.

The shop was vandalized before the angry men went out and smashed glass of trucks parked outside.

It was reported that the tenants who attacked this family had an on-going issue about the lease and the rent with the family.

Japanjot Ganda, the owner of the service station told 7News that they were in shock and found the act, disgraceful, “Absolutely disgraceful. We are in shock, everybody is shocked.”

Mr. Ganda said that he was now concerned about the safety of his family.
Japanjot claims that he agreed to lease two of his neighbouring shops on this premise to a pair of businessmen. But the tenants say that it was not his land to lease and the locks were changed overnight.

Rocca Cuzzillo said that Japanjot had pushed the limits on them leading to an argument.

“We don’t have to take matters into our hands but sometimes you have to kind of think,” Mr Cuzzillo told 7News.

Police says charges are yet to be laid.
