According to The New Zealand government immigration website, from October 1st, 2019, all Australian permanent residents who want to visit or travel to New Zealand must apply for an e-visa, that is the "New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) or a visitor visa – unless you are an Australian citizen”, it states.

And of course, there are fees you will have to pay for the e-visa which cost only NZ$12 if you go through New Zealand authorities but it could take roughly 4 days to process, but it is even much cheaper at only NZ$9 if you pay through mobile app or you can apply an e-visa through immigration.govt.nz and it may only take about 10 minutes. However, you will also have to pay a tourist tax worth about NZ$35 as well.

The new changes will affect around 60 countries across the world who previously don't need a visitor visa to enter New Zealand now have to apply for an e-visa if they intend to stay less than three months, but they have to declare any of their criminal histories before departure for New Zealand. Furthermore, for those who wish to stay longer than 3 months, a visitor visa is recommended.

Last but not least, applicants who want to apply for a New Zealand e-visa has to pass the character test, health test and must have genuine intentions to visit or stay in New Zealand for a specific purpose and time.
