Takraw is a new sport for Australia, however it is the a sport plays for centuries in Thailand. However many countries are still debating the origin of this sport, some believe that it initiate from China.

Australia Takraw Association has also took part for couple of years now, however they have to personally fund their trips to Thailand but they some support from Thai Sepak Takraw Association in terms of accommodation.
Though this year there are only 4 Australia players to play representing Australia in three categories i.e, Double, Rugu and Quad.
There was no luck in Double but Australia have manage to compete Rugu Final aganist Cambodia and host Chinese Taipei in Quad Final but both game ended up getting silver medal.
Australia had to play 5 games within a day and the games took their tolls, leaving them vulnerable and unable to perform to their best.

Australia Takraw Association still needs more players and want Australian communities who want to play representing Australia to contact them.
In terms of future plan, it is planning to submit for more funds and will discuss with Australian government to officially recognise this sport, so it is funded properly, they can have their uniforms, itineraries organized and have their coach to train them. At the moment, players who play representing Australia have to fork out their own pocket.#
