Lisa Woodland the director of New South Wales Multicultural Community Health Services says that it is very important for Australian multicultural communities especially those who have recently arrived or newly arrived to understand the Australian Health care Systems.
Multicultural Health Week 2019 started from the 2-8 September 2019 aiming to help Australians improve their health literacy and understand health information in regards to accessing the Australian Healthcare System.
In doing so New South Wales Multicultural Community Health Services is joining forces with the NSW Health Department created banners, posters, video and translated health information into different languages especially for those emerging communities with diverse background whose first language is not English to understand the Australian healthcare services better.
It is a very crucial part of resettling and starting a new life in Australia. The purpose is to make sure that these communities have health literacy, and can make an informed decision about the best possible health care choices for their families and their communities.
