Malta Ocean Summit 2017

Want to save marine life? World oceans must be cleaned! But who will pay for it?


European Commission Chief Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini has pledged at Malta Ocean Summit 2017 that European Union will provide 560 millions Euros to implemented its 36 strategies plans to clean up the world's oceans, but the EU has committed 840 million Euros for this cause.  This fund will be used for public education about the environment and helped household to reduce rubbish along with the scientific research and recommendations.

Prince Charles Philip Arthur George has mentioned that if we keep trashing our ocean, we will loose our way of life.  He further said that -

"It is I believe, utterly crucial that we transition to a circular economy. A circular economy allows plastics, along with other substances, to be recovered, recycled and reused."

European Policy makers said that these strategies will be able to save 90% of world economy and save millions of jobs. It is the collaboration between corporate and governments to implement.

Marine biologist has reported to the Malta Ocean Summit that there are more plastic in the ocean than stars in the galaxy. And the Ocean Conservancy also reported that each year there are 8 million metric tonnes of plastic are ending up in the ocean.

Therefore, marine biologist, Nicholas Mallos who is also the director of Trash Free Sea said that he has a mission to reduce manufacturing packaging, "mostly from the developing world as their population are exploding and don't sufficient mechanism to manage and collected basic waste needs."
