Fishing can give you more than you ever think.


Fishing is a very popular sport in Hmong communities in Australia. It can be treated as a holiday, camping or just relax and forest bathing if you like.

However, this year Hmong Australia Society Inc decide to hold fishing competition so that it can bring the whole Hmong community together to socialize and spend time with each other.

Tou Moua Yang is the Hmong Australia Society Inc (HAS) Sport Coordinator who organize the first fishing competition this year in Victoria on the 27th Oct 2018 at Lake Eldon within the regional town of Eldon and Mansfield, the National Park which will start from 8:30 am AEST to 3:30pm.

There will be 3 prizes, the first winner will get AUD 300, the second prize will get AUD 100 and third prize will get a present.

HAS has already coordinated with local Australian authorities especially local councils, Goulbourn  which authorize Hmong community to participate this fishing competition 2018 as well as police and ambulance will be presented if unexpected incidents happened.

So competitors will either fish at the bake of arranged location at Lake Eldon or if they have their own boats they can fish on their boats.

After they caught their fish, they have to bring to the committee who will measure the length, weigh and decide who got the biggest will be the winner, but if the got them same size in measurement, weight of the will determine the winner.
"In this fishing competition, competitors are required to have a fishing license, following fishing rules strictly. If anyone who fish the wrong size or wrong species of protected fish, they will be the sole responsible for their actions," said Tou Moua Yang, Hmong Australia Society Incoporate's Sports Coordinator.

Competitors can prepared their foods or they can donate for some foods that organizers prepared at this fishing tournament.
