Hmong Australian Society Inc Victoria branch's vice-president Jason Lee said that he and his new management would like do a lots of useful stuffs for its Melbourne's members.
Firstly he said that he wants to improve Hmong new year festival and many other things for Hmong community into the future.
He suggested that contribution fund to funeral ceremony will be made easier so that members can transfer money directly to the account that his organisation set up. The reasons are that, it is not safe to handle large amount of cash, but normal approach will still be implemented where this new measures step in.
Mr. Lee and his management would also like to create a website for Hmong Australia Society Inc Victoria branch, so it would make it easy to contact and connect or renew membership as well as to read about its visions, missions and regulations, but again it requires funding.
Teaching Hmong language and provide other services to community members are other part of this organisation's missions, which has been done previously and hopefully that his administration get grants to do so to benefits every members.
Jason Lee said that Hmong youngsters these they don't have opportunities to study Hmong, they don't know Hmong or don't even speak Hmong anymore. Therefore he wants Hmong language program so Hmong kids can study Hmong.
When mention about encouraging Hmong traditional arts, musical instruments and spoken words and Hmong funeral and marriage ceremony as well as other rituals, Jason said, first of all, it requires that those who want to study these program must be Hmong literates.
Hmong communities is also part of the Australian multicultural fabric and we should be part of it, be more connected and reach out to other communities, but Jason said, Hmong are a bit shy and they tend to keep it to themselves. However, he want his new team or the next management to carry on these missions into the future.
When it comes to Hmong Melbourne New Year Festival 2018-19, it is business as usual from the 26th to 28th December 2018.
The first day will be gathering for dinner and entertainment.
For the second day, there will be sports competition at the field beside the Progress Hall, so members can enjoy Hmong new year and sports tournament particularly Hmong top spin, valley ball and soccer. And for the last day, there will be ball throwing and other activities to keep members entertained.
However Mr. Jason Lee would like all members to bring their plates and help each other so that every can enjoy this festive season.#
