Hmong communities in Chiangmai, northern Thailand are planning to give away free vegetable to Chiangmai locals for three days starting from the 16-18 April 2020 (2563).
Phong Yang and his friend Chong Xiong who initiate this free 10 tonnes cabbage give away in the first day but it only last two hours and they are already run out of stocks so they are preparing another 10 tonnes for the second day to give away saying just to cheer people up a little bit and to keep them optimistic during COVID-19 outbreak.
He says that it is just to say thank you for those who have helped Hmong communities in difficult time whether in cold winter or during natural disaster strike like floods and mudslide that left Hmong communities in highland vulnerable.
Mr Yang says that reading some of the comments from Thai media who reported this event makes his day.
This event is made possible by donation from Hmong communities and at the same time this funds is used to
buy Hmong vegetable farmers and so to give these vegetable to Chiangmai locals in different areas for free.
This idea was supported by many Hmong communities whether Hmong businesses, Hmong 18 clans and other Hmong organisations.
Mr Yang says that he organised this events and get permission from local authorities and want to make sure that social distancing guidelines are followed during coronavirus outbreak to minimize the risk of contracting coronavirus.
This event, Mr Yang says, is not just by him or his friend but by the help of many Hmong communities who live in Chaingmai.
