"Muay Thai is a contacting sports but it is not a violent sports like most of us think but it is just an art. It benefits us a lot in terms of de-stressing and keeping us healthy and self-defence".

Bao Thao a Hmong woman base in Minnesota the United States of America has shared her story about Muay Thai tournament with SBS Radio Hmong Program.

Ms Thao said that many people might think that Muay Thai is about beating other party up but it is not. It is actually an art and how good you are with all the Muay Thai techniques to win your opponents.

Though it is a contacting sport, it can be very beneficial for everyone. It can be seen as a way to exercise and to de-stress. It is not only keeping us healthy but it is also a technique that can help us self-defense in case of emergency, so we can protect ourselves.

However, you may need to sacrifice a lot Ms Thao said, I have to go to gym every day in the morning and after 9-5 jobs. I have to have lots of protein but have to watch out not to take too much carbohydrate to maintain weight as it is a sports that is categorizing by weights, when you are challenging other parties.
