New research showed one Australian child is being abused or neglected every twelve munites

Act for Kids new research showed, over 92% of Australian communities do not intervene the incident of a child is being abused or neglected, but unable to spot abuse or negligence and don't know where or how to find help are even more worrisome.


According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW), child protection authorities has received reports 356, 000 (355,930) cases of child abuse and neglect in 2015-2016, which the number has increased from the last five years to 21% or one child is being abused or neglected every twelve minutes.

Therefore Act for Kids Regional Director, Thomas McIntyre said that it provides integrated services ranging from psychologist, family therapist, to speech therapist and occupational therapist to help children and families affected managing their behavior, participate in school and in communities, so they could recovery from their trauma.

Therefore Act for Kids Regional Director, Thomas McIntyre would like to send a message to Australian communities during the Child Protection Week from the 3rd -9th September 2017 that:

"People should approach that child to see if they are okay, to offer support and assistance and giving support to all the carers and families to get back on track. If people cannot to that then they should be aware of the programs or services available either through liaison or through statuary government organizations or community base that provide supports for families."
