Overweight and obese could inhibit concieving and miscarriage

Dr. Asma Gundru who base in Gold Coast, Queensland said that many Australian childbearing age women don't know that overweight and obese can lead to difficulties in conceiving and reproductive issue.

According to recent research from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) 2018, due to the obesity rate increase at 10% over the last two decades, 1 in 5 Australian women of childbearing are struggling to get pregnant, not responding to fertility treatment and are having health issues and complications during pregnancy or giving birth.

Therefore, overweight or obese have health issues and complications like higher risk of blood clots, preeclampsia (High blood pressure during pregnancy that cause damage to kidney and making hand and feet swelling and protein existing in urine) and gestational diabetes, but there will be fourfold of recurrent miscarrying according to AIHW.

But there is good news, The Mayao Clinic claims that by just loosing body weight by 10% women can improve their chance of concieving by 34%. But the AIHW said that by just loosing 5% , 90% of obese women can resume ovulation.

Dr. Asma Gundru said that we want people to maintain healthy weight if they want to have a family.

Dr. Gundru said that one diets doesn't fit all. The best advise she want to give to Australian women are that they see their general practitioners (GP) and do their own researches so they can bring any questions they have to ask their GPs.#
