Pukis: Indonesian waffles baked on fire

Pukis is a typical Indonesian cake. Said as a modification of waffles, Pukis originally is baked on fire.

CHEESE PUKIS recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 250 gr medium-protein flour
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla powder 
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 4 medium-sized eggs
  • 250 gr sugar
  • 300 ml cooked coconut milk
  • 100 gr melted butter
  • 50 gr grated cheese (or to taste)
Instructions:

Using a mixer, beat the eggs and sugar until the mix expands.

Add the flour that has been mixed with yeast little by little.

Add the vanilla powder, salt, coconut milk, melted butter, and grated cheese. Mix well and then let it stand for 30-60 minutes (until bubbly).

Pour the mixture into the pre-heated pukis mold, up to 3/4 full. Cook until all cooked through.

Sprinkle additional toping as desired (more grated cheese, chocolate, etc.). Serve warm.
