Turnbull resigns after 14-year career

Malcolm Turnbull has resigned from parliament with his successor Scott Morrison paying tribute to him as a prime minister who delivered some "very big things".

Malcolm Turnbull has formally resigned from the Australian parliament, bringing an end to his 14-year career as a federal member.

Mr Turnbull, who first entered parliament in 2004, on Friday confirmed his resignation from the NSW seat of Wentworth in writing to House of Representatives Speaker Tony Smith.
