On 26 May 2021 National Sorry Day in Australia, coincides with the anniversary of George Floyd’s death in America, raising important questions about repairing the relationship between Afro Americans and police and between indigenous Australians and the police.


Eben Kirksey is an American anthropologist and Associate Professor in the Alfred Deakin Institute at Deakin University. After a guilty verdict was handed down to policeman Derek Chauvin for murdering George Floyd, Prof Kirksey explained why justice is problematic for black Americans and Australians.
