The 3-G mobile phone network in Australia will be shut down in the coming months, meaning people will now have to use 4-G or 5-G networks.

The 3-G network in the country is in its final months of operation.

Although the end of 3-G has been marked for years, the latest industry figures show that there are more than half a million [530,000] Australians still using devices incompatible with 4-G and 5-G networks.

Telecoms companies are racing to reach mobile phone users ahead of the 3G stoppage

They have contacted affected customers and users to take action.

Users may not realize their phone is configured this way until 3-G is turned off.
