Advocates warn COVID-19 is causing staffing issues and neglect in aged care

Advocates for aged care are raising the alarm about the dire situation in the sector and a crisis unfolding with limited staff exposed to coronavirus off work. The Australian Aged Collaboration is concerned residents are being left isolated because of COVID-19 outbreaks and reduced staffing levels at homes.


Many families are concerned about the safety of Australia's elderly during the coronavirus pandemic with thousands of cases recorded in nursing homes and hundreds of deaths.
Understaffing has been stressed and the Omicron variant has exacerbated the staff shortage problem in the sector.
