On 16 April 2021, Andrew Peacock died. He was a former leader of the Liberal Party and fought unsuccessful election campaigns in 1984 and 1990. He was Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1975-1980, and was personally opposed to Indonesia’s annexation of East Timor


Kresno Brahmantyo, is a researcher and public historian at the Centre of Social and Cultural  Research, in the Humanities Faculty of the University of Indonesia.  He explains Andrew Peacock’s role in managing the Australia-Indonesia relationship at a time of tension.
