Australia to ban vape sales outside pharmacies

The Labor Party made a deal with the Greens to pass a bill that would give access for adults to buy vape without a prescription in pharmacies.


The government has reached an agreement with the Greens to pass the final piece of vaping legislation through the Senate.

The law removed the requirement for adults to obtain a prescription to access such devices - but banned sales outside pharmacies, with strict taste restrictions and plain packaging requirements.

The first wave of these changes went into effect on July 1 - banning all vape sales outside pharmacies, and limiting the flavors available to plain, mint, and menthol flavors.
