Australian winemakers have welcomed the Federal Government's decision to refer China to the international trade umpire over tariffs that have crippled Australian wine exports to China.
Until recently, most of the wine Australia sent overseas went to China, but Beijing's tariffs have, effectively, dried up that market. Australian wine exports to China have tumbled by 98 per cent to just 20 million dollars from 1.1 billion dollars.
