The Australian government has played down reports of an estimated six billion dollars in banning the export of some Australian products to China. Meanwhile the Chinese government has officially dismissed the speculation as a 'rumor'.

Increasingly concerned exporters of wine, seafood, sugar, coal, copper, barley / rice jelly and timber have braced themselves for sudden bans on their products, blocking access to Chinese consumers.

Concern has increased in recent days [[6 Nov]] after the threat of export was reported in Chinese state media.

But the Chinese government has dismissed talk of the trade standoff as just a rumor.

The standoff is another challenge for Australian exporters during a global pandemic that has alienated the country from its neighbors.
