Environmental activists have criticized Australia's lack of response to the climate emergency following the holding of a large global summit

At the US-initiated virtual talks, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison made no new promises, which have disappointed activists and political opponents.
On Earth Day - Earth Day, as part of the global climate summit, world leaders are taking a stand to save the planet, pledging to reduce emissions.
Although most countries do not recommend new emission goals at the two-day event, leaders do want to minimize global warming to one point five degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
The European Green Agreement aims to make Europe carbon neutral by 2050 and greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by at least 55 percent over the next nine years.
The United States as one of the biggest polluters, plans to reduce its emissions by 50 percent, targeting power generation, automobiles and other sectors.
