The city of Melbourne and the city of Bandung have once again strengthened their relationship as sister cities by signing a new memorandum of understanding.

On 22 April 2024, the two delegations met at Melbourne Town Hall. Also present was the mayor of Melbourne, Lord Sally Capp.

However, the acting mayor of Bandung, Mr. Bambang Tirtomulyo, was unable to attend and represented by Mr. Eric Mohammad Atthauriq, SH, Assistant for Economy and Development at the Bandung City Regional Secretariat.

SBS Indonesian had the opportunity to interview with Lord Mayor Sally and Mr Eric.

The Mayor of Melbourne, Lord Mayor Sally Capp said that this signing was an important moment and a positive step to strengthen relations between the city of Melbourne and the city of Bandung.

We'll be looking at the systems processes and platforms that bandung has used to promote the profile entrepreneurialism into big successful business. We also recognise the advances that the city of Bandung has made in smart city technology for better managing the city to make it more efficient

She also said the City of Melbourne had identified a number of areas where they could see mutual benefits from several activities undertaken by both cities in recent years.

In our interview with the Assistant for Economy and Development at the Bandung City Regional Secretariat, Mr. Eric Mohammad Attauriq, He explained several implementations that would be carried out after the signing.

One of them is an event with the Melbourne city government regarding game startups which will be held next June

This collaboration is for the benefit of both parties, both the Bandung city government and the city of Melbourne, which of course includes relevant stakeholders including the community.
